How it works it out
Dollars stay exact, lira round to 5,000.
The bill is in dollars. The lira the customer hands over is turned into dollars at your rate and added to the dollars they gave. Whatever is left over is the change.
Lira amounts shown to the customer are rounded to the nearest 5,000 LBP, and dollar amounts stay exact to the cent. That is why paying exactly the lira price shown settles the bill with nothing to give back.
The change can go back in either currency or in both: pick how many dollars to return and the lira makes up the rest. At the Table till the cashier does the same thing on the cash screen, and the sale keeps the rate it used. How the till handles two currencies.

About the calculator.
- Does the calculator use today's exchange rate?
- No. It starts at an example rate and you type the rate your shop uses. The Table till takes the day's rate from lirarate.org, or a rate the owner types.
- Why are lira amounts rounded?
- Lira amounts shown to the customer are rounded to the nearest 5,000 LBP, while dollar amounts stay exact to the cent. Handing over exactly the lira amount shown settles the bill with no change and no shortfall.
- Can the change be given in dollars and lira together?
- Yes. The cashier chooses how many dollars to give back and the rest is worked out in lira, or the whole change can be given in lira.
- Is this how the Table till works out change?
- Yes, it is the till's own calculation. The till also stores the rate each sale used and prints it on the receipt.
